UnitedOne Credit Union has achieved the No. 2 spot in the national “Best Credit Unions to Work For” ranking for 2025, marking its third consecutive year in the Top 10. The credit union improved from sixth place in 2024 and seventh place in 2023.
The rankings recognize 68 credit unions across the United States, ranging from organizations with as few as 29 employees to those with over 2,000 staff members. UnitedOne, which operates locations in Manitowoc and Sheboygan, is the highest-ranked Wisconsin-based credit union on this year's list. With $310 million in assets and a staff of 91 employees, it also led among credit unions with asset sizes between $200 million and $500 million.
One Nevada Credit Union topped the rankings this year, holding $1.5 billion in assets and employing 187 people.
“It’s a privilege for UnitedOne Credit Union to be recognized once more,” said Kim Rooney, CEO of UnitedOne. “Thanks to the dedication of our Leadership Team and Board of Directors, we've created a workplace culture that inspires our employees to thrive. Their passion and commitment create exceptional experiences for our members, who remain the driving force behind our mission.”
Founded more than eight decades ago as a not-for-profit financial institution, UnitedOne credits its ongoing mission of community improvement through volunteerism, financial education initiatives, local support efforts, and partnerships with other organizations focused on similar goals.
The annual rankings are compiled by American Banker using two surveys: one measuring employee satisfaction completed by staff members and another evaluating each credit union’s benefits and policies.
UnitedOne attributes its strong showing to competitive pay structures; progressive benefits such as pet bereavement leave and grandparent bonding leave; inclusive onboarding; flexible scheduling; remote work options; personalized support; continuing education opportunities; job shadowing programs; and clear paths for career advancement within the organization.
UnitedOne serves individuals living or working in Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Kewaunee, and Door counties. Its services extend to consumers as well as small- to mid-sized businesses.
