The Manitowoc County Historical Society will host a Civil War School Day on September 26 at its location on Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc. The event is scheduled from 9:30 am to 2 pm and is open to students from public, private, and home schools. Students will learn about the experiences of soldiers and citizens during the Civil War through demonstrations, meeting historical figures, hands-on activities, and tours of museum buildings in Pinecrest Village.

The program requires reservations and aims to provide an interactive educational experience that connects local history with national events. According to organizers, “This one-day only hands-on school experience brings the pages of history books to life.”

Civil War School Day is held alongside a weekend event called "Civil War Remembered," which will take place on September 27 and 28. Additional information is available on the Manitowoc County Historical Society's website or by calling (920) 684-4445.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society operates a living history museum spread over 60 acres in eastern Wisconsin. The site includes Pinecrest Historical Village, which features more than 25 historic buildings furnished with items from the region’s early settlers. The village was established in 1970 following a land donation by the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family. The buildings represent various aspects of small-town life in early twentieth-century Wisconsin, with both original artifacts and researched reproductions used for interpretation.

For further details about programs or visiting the museum, contact information is provided through their website or phone number.
