Metro Jam, a free annual music festival, is set to take place in downtown Manitowoc this weekend. The event will feature international, national, regional, and local artists over two days at Washington Park on June 20 and 21.

The Jayhawks from Minneapolis will headline the festival on Saturday night at 8:30 pm. Known for their influence on the Americana movement in the early 1990s, they are expected to be a major draw. On Friday night, The Periodicals from Madison will close out the evening at 8:00 pm with their British Northern Soul sound.

Friday's lineup includes Jimi Anderson and Bad Haji leading up to The Periodicals. Saturday features acts such as Murphy Blvd, The Taxmen, LaForce 3 Peace, Louie & The Flashbombs, Dickie from Des Moines making their first area appearance, and Ariel Posen from Montreal.

The event showcases various musical styles including jazz, blues, soul, folk, alt-country, Americana, classic rock, and original rock. It is supported by sponsors like Manitowoc Public Utilities and Novak’s Service Center among others.

The Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary Club/Two Rivers Rotary Club partners with Metro Jam for food and beverage concessions to support community efforts. Updates can be found on www.metrojam.org or their Facebook page.
