Manitowoc Public Library has announced a variety of programs for children throughout June 2025. The events are designed to engage families and children of different age groups with activities ranging from storytimes to chess clubs.
Family Activity Nights will kick off on Tuesday, June 3, offering a chance for families to enjoy an evening together at the library. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult, and no registration is needed.
The same day, "Fishing For Flavor" will take place from 6:30 PM to 7:15 PM. This event invites children aged 5-11 to identify different flavors using their senses. Due to the nature of the activity, food allergies or sensitivities cannot be accommodated.
Baby Storytime sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 AM. These sessions include stories, songs, rhymes, and playtime for developmental ages 0-2. Preschool Storytime follows at 10:30 AM on the same days for ages 2-5, focusing on early literacy skills through interactive activities.
A Drop-In Chess Club is set for Wednesday, June 4, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM in the Balkansky Community Room. Participants aged six and above can join without registration; however, formal instruction will not be provided.
On Thursday, June 12, from noon until 2 PM, families can sign up for the Summer Reading Program at Cedar Crest Ice Cream with a special storytime by Miss Betty at 1 PM. Early registrants receive a coupon for free ice cream.
"Taste of Tae Kwon Do," led by Mark Weber of Lakeshore Tae Kwon Do with over four decades of experience, is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 from noon until 1 PM on the library lawn. Registration is required starting Friday, June 30.
The Summer Reading Program runs from Monday, June 16 through Saturday August 9. Participants read or are read to over thirty days to earn prizes every six days read.
"Pigeon-Palooza!" features Mo Willems' character Pigeon in storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mid-June with opportunities for photos during select sessions.
Storytime On The Road offers sessions around town including Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center on June 20 and Lincoln Park Zoo on June 24.
The Friends of Manitowoc Public Library Used Book Sale takes place Thursday through Saturday starting June 26 in the Balkansky Community Room with specific hours each day.
Lastly "Chemical Chaos!" hosted by Dr. Amy Kabrhel from UW-Green Bay Chemistry Department will occur Friday afternoon on June's last weekend featuring engaging chemistry demonstrations outdoors aimed at elementary-aged kids and teens without needing prior registration.
