The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village will host a series of workshops and activities during Father's Day weekend. Fathers and father figures will receive free general admission on June 13 and 14. The museum, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Saturday, June 14, various workshops are scheduled with varying times and fees. Advanced registration is required for participation. The Family Base Ball Workshop runs from 10 a.m. to noon, where an adult-child pair can craft their own leather baseball. The Beer and Pretzels workshop takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., teaching participants about the historical role of beer while making pale ale with local ingredients from Briess Malting in Manitowoc alongside the Manty Malters Homebrew Club. Participants must be at least 21 years old.
From noon to 3 p.m., the Items for the Home Blacksmithing workshop offers students the chance to create items like dinner triangles or candleholders.
An 1860s base ball match is also planned for June 14 featuring The Manitowoc County Amateurs, who will play using traditional equipment such as brown balls and double-knobbed bats without gloves or other protective gear. Guests can join in by playing pick-up games at 12:15 p.m., learning the rules of base ball as played in the 1860s.
General admission costs $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $10 for children aged four to seventeen, while children under four and MCHS Members enter free. More details are available on the Historical Society's website or by calling (920) 684-4445.
The Manitowoc County Historical Society is situated in Eastern Wisconsin's Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside. It features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services alongside Pinecrest Historical Village—a collection of over twenty-five historic buildings that reflect early Wisconsin community life during the early twentieth century.
