The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, has announced the opening of registration for its youth summer camps. These themed camps cater to various age groups and run from 9 am to 3 pm on designated dates. Options for early drop-off and late pick-up are available. Fees differ by camp, and advanced registration is required. Scholarships are also offered.

The summer camp lineup includes:

- Life As A Pioneer Summer Camp: Scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10, this camp is open to children aged 6 to 12. Participants will experience life as it was at the turn of the 20th century through activities such as household chores and school lessons.

- In the Kitchen Summer Camp: Set for Wednesday, July 16, this camp welcomes children aged 8 to 14. Attendees will engage in cooking activities within historic homes and take home samples of their culinary creations.

- Makesmith Summer Camp: Taking place on Thursday, July 17, this camp is designed for ages 10 to 16. Participants will learn about trades like blacksmithing and carpentry by working alongside skilled craftsmen.

- Civil War Summer Camp: This two-day camp occurs on Tuesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 6, for ages 6 to 12. It focuses on bringing local Civil War era stories to life with activities related to both battlefronts and home fronts.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society offers a living history museum set in Eastern Wisconsin's Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside. The museum spans over a 60-acre area featuring a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services along with Pinecrest Historical Village—a collection of more than 25 historic buildings furnished with period items from early settlers of Manitowoc County.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in the year 1970 following a land donation from Hugo and Eleanor Vetting. The village replicates a small Wisconsin community from the early 1900s with buildings that form the town's commercial, social, and political core showcasing several architectural styles from Wisconsin's past. The furnishings used by interpreters are either original pieces or well-researched reproductions.
