The Manitowoc County Historical Society is offering a unique opportunity for families this Mother's Day weekend. Mothers and mother figures will receive free general admission to the museum and Pinecrest Village on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10. Visitors are invited to "treat the mothers and mother figures in your life to an outdoor living history experience where you are immersed in the stories of our past."
As part of the weekend activities, the historical society is hosting a Create-Connect Workshop on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., focused on 19th-century sweet treats. Attendees will learn how to make sweets using a woodstove and churn ice cream. However, space for the workshop is limited, and prior registration is necessary, as it quickly sells out.
Located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, the Manitowoc County Historical Society features a 60-acre interpretive museum of local history, which includes the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village. This village reflects a small Wisconsin community from the early 1900s, consisting of over 25 historic buildings furnished with items from Manitowoc County's early settlers.
The Village has grown from a land donation by the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family in 1970 to become "a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s." For more details on the program, visitors are encouraged to call (920) 684-4445 or visit www.ManitowocCountyHistory.org.
