About the Manitowoc County Historical Society, the museum presents a 60-acre living history space set in Eastern Wisconsin's Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside. It includes a Welcome Center with exhibitions on local history and research services, along with the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village. This village, originating in 1970 through a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family, is now a replica of a small Wisconsin community from the early 1900s featuring more than 25 historic buildings and corresponding period furnishings.
