The Manitowoc County Historical Society has announced its plans for the spring opening weekend celebration scheduled for May 3 at the Museum and Pinecrest Village. The event will feature the 19th annual Homegrown Heritage Breakfast fundraiser, along with various living history demonstrations and trades interpreters.
The Homegrown Heritage Breakfast is set for 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., with tickets covering museum and village admission. Advanced registration is suggested as tickets are sold in time slots. The menu includes scrambled eggs from Humpty Dumpty Eggs, toast from Natural Ovens Bakery, bacon and sausage from Newton Meats, butter from Pine River Dairy, cheese from Henning’s Cheese, and local jams and maple syrup from Hilltop Maple Syrup Camp. Meals will be prepared by Late’s BBQ in Manitowoc. Proceeds will support the Manitowoc County Historical Society's efforts in preserving and promoting local history.
Living history demonstrations will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pinecrest Village, featuring interpreters who will present various crafts and trades from the 19th century. Historic sheep shearing demonstrations will take place at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Meeme Livery, allowing guests to participate in activities such as trimming fleece and transforming wool into yarn.
