Manitowoc Public Library schedules April 2025 events for adults

The Manitowoc Public Library in Wisconsin has unveiled its schedule for adult events in April 2025, offering a wide range of activities for community members.

Every Tuesday throughout April, the Department of Workforce Development will be present in the Franklin Street Room to provide employment assistance, including support in resume writing and job applications. No appointments are necessary.

Also on Tuesdays, members of the Manitowoc County Genealogical Society will assist with genealogy research in the library’s Manitowoc Collection from 3-5 PM.

On April 2, a Drop-In Chess Club will be held from 6-7:30 PM in the Balkansky Community Room. Chessboards will be available, and attendees of all ages over 6 can participate. There will be no formal instruction.

The library's foundation will host a "Murder Mystery at the Library" fundraiser on April 5 from 5:30-9 PM. This event will feature a 1920s-themed interactive experience, and tickets are $100 per person. Attendees must be 21 or older.

Writers are invited to "Space to Write" on April 8 and 22 from 5:30-7:30 PM. This event offers a creative space and occasional speaking guests for writers of all levels.

A Glowforge Badging Session is set for April 9 from 6-7:30 PM. This session will include a demonstration of the Glowforge laser engraver. Registration is required and opens on March 31.

On April 10, the library will screen the movie "Oppenheimer" from 4-7 PM, offering free admission.

Bill Jartz, known as the "Voice of Lambeau" and a WBAY-Channel 2 News Anchor, will have a conversation event on April 12 from 1-2:30 PM in the Balkansky Community Room.

Beginning April 14 and continuing through May 1, the library will accept entries for a Bookmark Art Contest in celebration of Comic Book Day 2025. The contest is open to all ages with winners in several categories.

The MPL Insider series returns on April 17 at noon with Tim & Emily, featuring a discussion with Public Services Librarian Tony Plekan and author Pat Dewane.

That evening, on April 17 from 6-7:30 PM, Pat Dewane will host "The Accidental Hero," discussing his grandfather’s WWII experiences as revealed in a recently discovered manuscript.

The Judy Blume Book Club will meet to discuss "Tiger Eyes" on April 17 from 6-7 PM. This program is open to those 18 and older.

On April 22, "Football Frenzy" will provide family-friendly football-themed activities from 6-7:15 PM.

A Cricut Badging Session will be held on April 25 from 2-3:30 PM. This event will offer hands-on training on the Cricut Maker. Registration opens April 11.

With a variety of activities throughout the month, Manitowoc Public Library aims to engage the community with these services and events.
