Lakeshore College students Kaven Lewis and Robert Talamantes have been recognized by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa. Both students were named to the 2025 All-Wisconsin Academic Team. Additionally, Lewis was selected as the sole Wisconsin 2025 New Century Workforce Scholar, receiving a $1,500 scholarship.
The New Century Workforce Scholar initiative supports students at associate degree-granting institutions nationwide as they prepare to enter the workforce after completing their studies. Lewis is pursuing an associate degree in electro-mechanical maintenance. He was chosen from nearly 2,100 nominees across more than 1,300 college campuses.
Talamantes is working towards associate degrees in cybersecurity and web and software development. He is involved with Lakeshore’s Information Technology Club and TRIO alongside his membership in the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
“This award is special in many ways and recognizes members for their distinguished academic achievements and leadership accomplishments. These individuals are role models in their colleges and communities and are worthy of our respect and emulation,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, President and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa.
Lakeshore College educates over 9,000 students annually, focusing on real-world career skills and preparation for further education. The college has received national recognition for its programs, including rankings by Washington Monthly, Forbes, WalletHub.com, and awards from the Aspen Institute and Chamber of Manitowoc County.
Each year about 800 students graduate from Lakeshore College, with associate degree graduates reporting a median salary of $55,698 within six months post-graduation. The college operates campuses in Cleveland, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, and other district locations.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation supports over 1,400 exceptional college students annually with $3.55 million in scholarships through three nationally recognized programs.
