The Manitowoc County Historical Society is set to host a Volunteer Open House and Luncheon on April 16 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. This event, taking place at the society's location on Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, coincides with National Volunteer Week. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore various volunteer roles within the organization, including those in youth and public education programs, archives data entry, building repairs, grounds work, and guest services.
The open house aims to recognize current volunteers for their contributions while encouraging new participants to join. "Dedicated volunteer team members will also be thanked for all their efforts to strengthen the museum's mission," according to the society. The event includes a luncheon and guest speakers, along with a chance for attendees to tour the grounds and view historic structures.
Interested individuals are encouraged to RSVP by contacting the Historical Society's Engagement Manager at (920) 684-4445 or guestservices@manitowoccountyhistory.org. Those unable to attend can still reach out to connect with the society.
The Manitowoc County Historical Society operates as a living history museum in Eastern Wisconsin’s Ice Age Kettle Moraine region. It features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services alongside Pinecrest Historical Village—a collection of over 25 historic buildings representing early 1900s Wisconsin community life.
Pinecrest Historical Village was established in 1970 through a land donation from Hugo and Eleanor Vetting. It showcases architectural styles from Wisconsin's past using both original pieces and carefully researched reproductions.
