The Sheboygan Theater Company (STC) has announced open auditions for its upcoming production of "Legally Blonde the Musical." The community theater, which has been a cultural fixture in Sheboygan County for 90 seasons, will hold auditions on March 18 and 19, 2025. These will take place at the Theatre Business Office/Rec Department Office located at 3330 Stahl Rd, Sheboygan, WI.

STC Executive Director Tricia Roberts expressed excitement about bringing this production to the stage. “We are thrilled to bring Legally Blonde: The Musical to the STC stage. This show is an inspiring and energetic celebration of determination, self-discovery, and breaking stereotypes—wrapped in an incredibly fun and upbeat production,” she stated. Roberts sees this as a significant opportunity for performers to display their talents through bold characters and a story that appeals to audiences of all ages.

The musical follows Elle Woods' journey from being a fashion-savvy UCLA sorority girl to attending Harvard Law School after her boyfriend ends their relationship. The story emphasizes themes of ambition, empowerment, and embracing one's true self through catchy music and lively dance numbers.

Directing the show is Zac Stearn, who brings over 15 years of professional theater experience as a director, actor, educator, and arts enthusiast. His previous work with STC includes directing "Mary Poppins" earlier this season as well as his debut with "Into the Woods." He also directed STC’s Studio Players’ 4th of July Musical Revue.

Stearn commented on his anticipation for the auditions: “I'm looking forward to seeing talented individuals who can take direction, have a friendly attitude, and are well-prepared," he said. “It's fantastic when people are excited about auditioning rather than intimidated."

Audition participants aged 15 or older should prepare approximately one minute (32 measures) of a musical theater or pop song similar in style to the show. Callbacks will involve singing selections from the script along with movement exercises. Rehearsals start on March 21st during weeknights at Leslie W. Johnson Theatre at Horace Mann Middle School; performances run from May 9-17 with mandatory availability including tech weekend on May 3-4.

Interested individuals can reserve their audition slot online or by calling STC directly at 920-459-3773.

Sheboygan Theater Company was founded in 1934 as a volunteer-run organization operating within Sheboygan's local area while producing four mainstage shows annually at Horace Mann Middle School’s Leslie W Johnson Theatre campus under guidance from an advisory committee composed primarily by volunteers but supplemented by hired directors/designers such as those involved here today!
