The Manitowoc County Historical Society has announced its 2025 SPARK! series, a free monthly program designed for individuals with early-to-mid stage memory loss, their care partners, and family members. Participants engage in discussions, explore exhibits, interact with historic artifacts, and participate in multi-sensory activities. The program is supported by Felician Village.
Since joining the SPARK! network in 2018, the Manitowoc County Historical Society has been part of over 50 cultural organizations across the United States implementing this initiative. The programs are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:30 am at the museum located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc. Each session lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes and includes social time after the main event.
The schedule for 2025 includes diverse topics each month:
- March 11: Exploring seasonal changes through motion and music.
- April 8: Discovering garden history and preparing for spring planting.
- May 13: Highlighting animals' roles during the Civil War with therapy dogs present.
- June 10: Examining stagecoach travel in the late 1800s.
- July 8: Learning preservation methods before modern refrigeration.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society is located within Eastern Wisconsin's Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside. It features a living history museum spanning over sixty acres that includes local history exhibits, research services, and Pinecrest Historical Village—a collection of more than twenty-five historic buildings representing early settlers' lives. Founded in part by land donated by Hugo and Eleanor Vetting in 1970, Pinecrest Village replicates an early twentieth-century Wisconsin community.
Further details about the society can be obtained by contacting them directly or visiting their website.
