Manitowoc Public Library has announced a series of events for adults in March 2025, offering a diverse range of activities and educational opportunities.

One of the highlights is the "Murder Mystery at the Library," a fundraiser by the Manitowoc Public Library Foundation set for Saturday, April 5, from 5:30 to 9 PM. Attendees are invited to immerse themselves in a Roaring '20s themed evening featuring "a theatrical performance, heavy hors d’oeuvres, alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, live music, costume contest, raffle drawing," and valet parking. Tickets cost $100 each and can be purchased online or at the library's main service desk.

On March 1, from 9 AM to noon, the library will host its "5th Annual Lakeshore Seed Swap" in collaboration with the Lakeshore Seed Collective. Participants can exchange seeds without any cost involved.

Throughout March on Mondays at 6 PM, Manitowoc Public Library presents "Great Decisions 2025," an eight-week lecture series exploring global challenges. The series is free and open to the public with topics like AI and American national security discussed by experts such as Dave Schroeder from UW-Madison.

The Department of Workforce Development will offer employment assistance and career counseling every Tuesday in March from 9 AM to 4 PM at MPL’s Franklin Street Room. Services include resume writing support and job application assistance.

For those interested in genealogy research, members of the Manitowoc County Genealogical Society will provide help every Tuesday in March from 3-5 PM.

A Drop-In Chess Club session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 from 6-7:30 PM for chess enthusiasts aged six years and older.

On Thursday, March 6 from 6-7 PM, join an online discussion about Oscar winners during "Whatcha Watching?" hosted by Matt along with Lisa Devins-Horohoe and Tim Gadzinski.

From Monday, March 10 through Saturday, March 15 during regular hours there will be a “Beat the Winter Blues” Pop-Up Book Sale on MPL’s Main Floor hosted by Friends of Manitowoc Public Library. Most items are priced at $1.

Other events include sewing sessions with Betty on Monday afternoons; creative writing space available twice monthly; Tai Chi classes led by Ray Gates; author Corey Geiger discussing his book "The Wisconsin Farm They Built"; an insider chat featuring MPL management; book discussions; demonstrations on using digital resources like Libby app; as well as training sessions on using makerspace equipment like Glowforge laser engraver or Cricut Maker machine—each requiring prior registration due limited space availability.

Concluding this month-long programming slate is a historical reenactment marking one hundred years since Company A received its flag back home after Civil War battles—a symbolic event taking place Thursday evening near MPL’s Service Desk area honoring both artifact significance alongside community legacy it represents today."
