Mark Lorier, an instructor at Lakeshore College, has been recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges as one of its 2025 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty. This recognition marks the seventh time a faculty member from Lakeshore has received this honor since the program's inception in 2018.

The award is named after former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell and honors individuals who make significant contributions both inside and outside the classroom. Lorier, who joined Lakeshore in 2012, teaches computer numerically controlled machine tooling. He holds multiple national certifications and is involved in various college committees. Lorier will be honored at a ceremony on April 16 in Nashville.

Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen praised Lorier's impact on students and faculty: “As a quiet leader, Mark has a significant impact on our students, faculty, and college. Manufacturing is the largest industry sector in our district and the programs he teaches are critical to our local employers who seek our graduates.”

Carlsen also highlighted Lorier's role in launching Rocket Academy, Wisconsin's first advanced manufacturing technology charter school: “Mark has also been instrumental to the implementation of Rocket Academy...and his work with Registered Apprenticeship and Youth Apprenticeship programs has been key to their success.”

Other Lakeshore faculty previously recognized include Kelly Konrath (math), Julie Konik (psychology), Sarah Bornemann (information technology web and software development), Jeremy Pagel (sociology), Paul Benfield (information technology), and David Saunders (welding).

Carlsen emphasized the prestige of this recognition: "Faculty from around the country get nominated for this prestigious recognition. Having Lakeshore individuals recognized year after year is not only an honor but evidence of their exceptional talent and dedication to our students."

Lakeshore College educates over 9,000 students annually, offering career skills training and pathways to bachelor's degrees. It is nationally recognized for its educational excellence.
