Manitowoc Public Library has announced its February 2025 youth programs, offering a variety of activities for children and families. The Winter Reading Program, "Warm Up with a Good Book!", continues through February 22. Participants are encouraged to read or be read to for a total of 10 hours by the deadline. Completion earns a prize and entry into a raffle for themed baskets. Tracking can be done via the Beanstack app or by picking up a paper tracker at any library service desk.
Family Activity Nights (FANs) take place on Tuesday evenings, targeting children aged 5-11, though older siblings are welcome. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult. Details are available on the library's Facebook page and event calendar.
On February 4, from 6:30 to 7:15 PM, "Whimsical Wizardry!" will feature Professor Veritas (Amy Kabrhel from UWGB-Manitowoc Campus) guiding participants in creating magical elixirs. Registration opens January 21 at 5 PM on the library's website.
The Lego Block Party is scheduled for February 21 from 6 to 7 PM, inviting LEGO enthusiasts to build and engage in STEAM-related activities without prior registration.
Baby Storytime sessions occur on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 AM, offering stories and playtime for ages 0-2. Preschool Storytime follows at 10:30 AM, focusing on early literacy skills for ages 2-5. Both events welcome siblings and do not require registration.
The Drop-In Chess Club meets on February 5 from 6 to 7:30 PM in the Balkansky Community Room. Open to all abilities aged six and above, it provides chessboards but no formal instruction.
"Read to Certified Therapy Dogs" takes place on February 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Limited spots require registration starting January 28 at the Youth Services Department or by calling the library.
A Big Kids’ Valentine Party is planned for February 14 from 2 to 3:30 PM, featuring stories, songs, games, crafts, and treats for children aged five to ten without needing registration.
Children under eight must have adult supervision during all events.
