Ascend Services, Inc. announced today that work has begun on the renovations to the Community Center. Monday, crews from Hamann Construction began the demolition of inside structures to open spaces. The project which is being partly funded through a grant Ascend received from the Otto Bremer Trust is slated to be finished in early December.“This newly renovated space will allow us to provide additional room for the Youth Programming, which is supported by the Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) program. We currently serve twenty-two children and are aware there is an extensive waiting list for services, per the Manitowoc Human Services. This renovation would allow us to accommodate additional referrals. We are excited that this space will allow us to design some creative separate rooms; themed rooms, varying from sensory to an art studio.” Said Deanna Genske, Executive Director. “We are grateful that we have secured some of the funding for this project, but it is critical that we strive to achieve more.”, said Deanna Genske, Executive Director. In addition to creation of six themed rooms, renovations include electrical work, HVAC remodeling and replacing the roof. The mission of Ascend Services, Inc. is to promote individual growth by providing community experiences, education, and employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Events like this help promote and further their mission.Deanna Genske, Executive DirectorAscend Services, Inc2818 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc920-682-4663 ext. 111
