Manitowoc Public Library announces children's programs for July

Manitowoc Public Library has unveiled its lineup of children's programs for July 2025, offering a variety of educational and entertaining activities for young patrons.

The Summer Reading Program runs until August 9. Participants can register via the Beanstack App or pick up a paper tracker at any Service Desk. The program is free and open to all ages. "Read or be read to a total of 30 days to complete the program," with prizes available every six days of reading. Prizes must be collected by August 16, subject to availability.

Cooking and Reading Adventures with 4-H will occur on Tuesdays, July 1, 15, and 29 from 2-3 PM. This initiative combines basic cooking skills with literacy activities for children in grades K-3. No registration is required, but parents are advised to contact the Youth Department at 686-3030 regarding food allergies or sensitivities.

Baby Storytime takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 AM, featuring stories, songs, rhymes, bounces, parachute activities, bubbles followed by playtime. It is recommended for developmental ages 0-2.

Preschool Storytime follows at 10:30 AM on the same days and includes singing, talking, reading, creating, and playing focused on early literacy skills for ages 2-5.

"Paint the Library Red, White & Blue!" invites participants to decorate library windows for Independence Day on Wednesday, July 2 from 2-3 PM. Space is limited; poster board is available starting June 16 for those unable to attend.

A Drop-In Chess Club session will be held in the Balkansky Community Room from 6-7:30 PM on July 2. All ages (6+) are welcome without formal instruction provided.

Family Activity Nights (FANs) start Tuesday evenings with "Wings of Wonder—All About Pigeons" on July 8 from 6:30-7:15 PM featuring local enthusiast Mark Maurer discussing pigeons' roles in history.

Jim Gill's Sing-Along & Play-Along Concert happens Wednesday, July 9 from 2-3 PM in Burger Boat Park. This event invites all ages to sing and dance together outdoors or indoors if weather dictates.
