Manitowoc Public Library has announced its Teen Services programming for February 2025, featuring a variety of events aimed at engaging the community.

The Winter Reading Program, titled "Warm Up with a Good Book!", is open to all ages and runs through February 22. Participants are encouraged to read or be read to for a total of 10 hours by the deadline. Completing this challenge earns participants a prize and a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of several baskets. Reading can be tracked using the Beanstack app or by visiting manitowoclibrary.beanstack.org.

On Wednesday, February 5, from 6-7:30 PM, the library will host a Drop-In Chess Club in the Second Floor Balkansky Community Room. This event is open to individuals aged six and older who wish to improve their memory and concentration through chess. No formal instruction will be provided, but chessboards and library materials will be available.

"Space to Write" sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays, February 11 and 25, from 5:30-7:30 PM in the Franklin Street Room. These gatherings welcome writers of all levels seeking inspiration and community support.

A special event titled "Teen Hang-Out: Face the Flavor: Candy Store Edition!" will take place on Thursday, February 13, from 6-7:30 PM. Participants can enjoy sweet treats while taking part in challenges like the Bewildering Bean Challenge. Registration is required starting January 30 at noon.

"MPL Insider: Beyond the Books with Tim & Emily" is set for Thursday, February 20, at noon. The program will feature Youth Services Associate Lynn Christiansen discussing Family Activity Nights and Public Services Associate Olivia Hanf detailing Cricut and Idea Box makerspace activities.

Later that day, from 6-7 PM, teens can join the "Shelf Conscious Book Group" in the Franklin Street Room. This group allows participants to discuss books they've enjoyed or disliked without following a reading list.

On Wednesday, February 26, from 10-11:30 AM, attendees can learn about Libby—the online reading app—during an instructional session in MPL’s Second Floor Board Room. The session includes hands-on assistance with downloading and navigating Libby.

Finally, on Wednesday evening from 5-6 PM in the Idea Box, there will be a "3Doodler Badging Session." Tony from MPL staff will demonstrate how to use the library's 3Doodler Pens. Registration opens on Monday, February 17 at www.manitowoclibrary.org/event/3doodler-badging-session-18951.
