Lakeshore College faculty members have expanded their influence beyond the classroom with the publication of two new books. Dr. Emilie Lindemann from the Communications Faculty and Mark Lorier from the Machining Faculty have recently released their works, which are now available online.

Dr. Emilie Lindemann's book, "Ghost(ed) Woman & the Electric Purple Pants," was published by Fresh Water Press in Two Rivers on June 25. This chapbook explores themes such as time distortion during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, personal identity tied to professional roles, and finding solace in nature and creativity. Reflecting on her experience after her previous institution closed, Lindemann shared: “That first full-time job felt like ‘home’ to me, and I feel like for academics or anyone working in higher ed, our jobs are often tied very closely to our sense of identity.” The poetry collection also emphasizes connection through creativity and self-expression.

In addition to teaching at Lakeshore College, Lindemann serves as a poetry editor for Stoneboat Literary Journal and has authored other works including "mother-mailbox."

Mark Lorier's "Blueprint Reading" is a digital textbook published by WisTech Open, an initiative of the Wisconsin Technical College System. It aims to introduce students to interpreting engineering and architectural drawings. Lorier explained: “Blueprint reading is more than just understanding drawings — it’s about helping students build confidence in a skill that opens the door to so many careers.” Peer reviewers included faculty experts from Wisconsin technical colleges such as Richard Pfister, Peter Rathsack, and Matthew Roskopf from Lakeshore.

The Vice President of Instruction at Lakeshore College, Dr. Meredith Sauer, praised both authors' achievements: “Lakeshore College is excited to congratulate Emilie Lindemann and Mark Lorier regarding the release of their new books.”

Lakeshore College offers education to over 9,000 students annually across various campuses including Cleveland, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan. The college is recognized nationally for its educational excellence.
