Lakeshore College faculty members have expanded their influence beyond the classroom with the release of two new books. Dr. Emilie Lindemann from the Communications Faculty has published “Ghost(ed) Woman & the Electric Purple Pants,” while Machining Faculty member Mark Lorier has authored “Blueprint Reading.” Both works are now available online.

“Lakeshore College is excited to congratulate Emilie Lindemann and Mark Lorier regarding the release of their new books,” stated Dr. Meredith Sauer, Lakeshore College’s Vice President of Instruction. She added, “Having their work published is a huge accomplishment and speaks to the caliber of expertise they bring to their respective fields and the classroom. We are glad to have Emilie and Mark among our dedicated and experienced faculty members at Lakeshore.”

Dr. Emilie Lindemann's book, released by Fresh Water Press in Two Rivers on June 25, explores themes surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic through poetry. Lindemann shared her experiences following her previous liberal arts college's closure in 2020: “That first full-time job felt like ‘home’ to me, and I feel like for academics or anyone working in higher ed, our jobs are often tied very closely to our sense of identity.” Her poems delve into feelings of loneliness as well as connection with nature and creativity.

In addition to her teaching role, Lindemann serves as poetry editor for Stoneboat Literary Journal and has authored several chapbooks.

Mark Lorier's textbook, “Blueprint Reading,” was published by WisTech Open earlier this month. It aims to provide students with practical skills in interpreting engineering and architectural drawings. Lorier commented on its significance: “Blueprint reading is more than just understanding drawings — it’s about helping students build confidence in a skill that opens the door to so many careers.”

The textbook was peer-reviewed by experts from Wisconsin technical colleges, including Richard Pfister, Peter Rathsack, and Matthew Roskopf from Lakeshore.

Both publications highlight the contributions of Lakeshore College faculty in providing educational resources beyond traditional classroom settings.
