Lakeshore College in Cleveland, WI, will host an IT Career Exploration event on May 12 from 4-7 p.m. This occasion will take place in the Lakeshore building on the institution's Cleveland campus. The event will showcase three educational programs: Cybersecurity Specialist, Network Specialist, and Web & Software Developer. Attendees will receive information regarding the application process, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and learning options.

James Rice, an instructor for the Web & Software Developer program at Lakeshore College, emphasized the event's purpose: “This event is all about giving attendees a chance to get their hands on real tools and technology used in today’s IT careers.” The event will feature various hands-on activities such as coding games and interactive cybersecurity demonstrations, designed to introduce participants to the essentials of IT careers. Rice added, “From coding games that introduce the fundamentals of software and web development, to interactive activities in cybersecurity such as Wireshark demonstrations and creating virtual machines found in networking, we’re helping students explore what it really means to work in these high-demand fields. It’s a unique opportunity to learn by doing and to see where an IT career could take them.”

Lakeshore College, previously called Lakeshore Technical College, educates over 9,000 students each year. The college focuses on building employable career skills and preparing students for further education. It is nationally recognized as a top-ranked two-year college by various organizations. Approximately 800 students graduate from the college annually, reporting a median salary of $61,355 within six months of graduation.
