Lakeshore College is set to host an IT Career Exploration event on Monday, May 12, from 4-7 pm at its Cleveland campus. The event will feature programs in Cybersecurity Specialist, Network Specialist, and Web & Software Developer. Information will be available regarding the application process, financial aid, scholarships, and learning options.

“This event is all about giving attendees a chance to get their hands on real tools and technology used in today’s IT careers,” said James Rice, Lakeshore College’s instructor for the web & software developer program. "From coding games that introduce the fundamentals of software and web development, to interactive activities in cybersecurity such as Wireshark demonstrations and creating virtual machines found in networking, we’re helping students explore what it really means to work in these high-demand fields. It’s a unique opportunity to learn by doing and to see where an IT career could take them,” added Rice.

Lakeshore College, formerly known as Lakeshore Technical College, educates more than 9,000 students annually. It focuses on providing employable career skills and supporting students pursuing a bachelor’s degree. The institution has received national recognition, including rankings by Washington Monthly and Forbes. Additionally, about 800 students graduate each year, with associate degree graduates reporting a median salary of $61,355 within six months. Lakeshore operates campuses in Cleveland, downtown Manitowoc, and downtown Sheboygan and offers various classes throughout the district.
