The Manitowoc County Historical Society is preparing for its spring opening weekend, scheduled for Saturday, May 3. The event will include the 19th Annual Homegrown Heritage Breakfast, held from 8 am to 11 am at the Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc.

Tickets to the breakfast include admission to the museum and village, as well as access to all activities. "Tickets are sold in time slots, corresponding to the time you would like to eat," said a representative. Advanced registration is advised. The breakfast menu features scrambled eggs from Humpty Dumpty Eggs, toast from Natural Ovens Bakery, bacon and sausage from Newton Meats, butter from Pine River Dairy, cheese from Henning’s Cheese, local jams, and maple syrup from Hilltop Maple Syrup Camp. Late’s BBQ from Manitowoc will prepare the meal. Funds collected during the event will support the Manitowoc County Historical Society's educational programs.

From 10 am to 2 pm, Pinecrest Village will host various living history demonstrations. "You’ll be able to chat with our knowledgeable costumed interpreters who keep the stories of our past alive," said a spokesperson. Attendees can expect to experience aspects of 19th-century life through activities like blacksmithing and baking.

For those interested in further information about the Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, or wishing to purchase tickets in advance, resources are available at ManitowocCountyHistory.org or by calling (920) 684-4445.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society is described as a "museum of living history," located in the Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin. It spans 60 acres and includes a Welcome Center with exhibits and research services, along with Pinecrest Historical Village. The Village was established in 1970 through a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family. It recreates a small Wisconsin community from the early 1900s and showcases a range of architectural styles and historically accurate furnishings and tools.
