Lynn Potyen, the owner of The GameBoard in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, has been appointed to the Harbor Centre Business Improvement District's (BID) Board of Directors for 2025. Potyen expressed her enthusiasm about joining the board, stating, "This is a great group that is doing a real service for downtown retailers and I’m proud to serve alongside them." She emphasized the importance of making the BID more successful for both businesses and residents.
Potyen's contributions to the gaming industry have been recognized with several awards. Last year, she received the Outstanding Contribution to the Games Industry award from the Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA). Her store is also nominated for GAMA Retailer of the Year award this year. Kristin Bahr, BID Member Services Director, acknowledged on Facebook, “We’re excited to spotlight each of the amazing individuals serving on the Harbor Centre Business Improvement District Board."
The GameBoard was founded by Potyen in 2006 after discovering how games could aid her son's speech therapy. The store offers various services beyond selling board games, including game-based holiday parties and corporate workshops. It aims to enhance creativity and critical thinking within the community.
For those interested in visiting The GameBoard or learning more about its offerings, it is located at 621 N. 8th Street in Sheboygan’s historic downtown.
