Registration is now open for the Miracle League of the Lakeshore, a program run by Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (Goodwill NCW). This initiative provides individuals aged four to nineteen with disabilities the chance to participate in baseball within an organized and non-competitive league. The games are held on a safe and accessible field.
“Goodwill NCW’s Miracle League program gives those with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball at an accessible facility while building relationships, engaging socially with others and learning important life skills like teamwork and communication to help them overcome barriers,” said Tim Wavrunek, Mission Team Leader of Community Programs at Goodwill NCW. “We are excited to welcome familiar faces and new ones to this program.”
The season spans eight weeks, starting in June. Players are paired with community volunteers who support and motivate them during games. Additionally, there is a need for volunteer pitchers, umpires, announcers, coaches, and team helpers. The public is encouraged to attend the games as fans.
Both players and volunteers can register online from February 1 until March 31.
Miracle League of the Lakeshore takes place at Goodwill Miracle Field of Dreams at Miracles Park in Manitowoc. Further information or registration details can be found at goodwillncw.org/mll.
