The Manitowoc County Historical Society is organizing free workshops for teachers at the Museum and Pinecrest Village, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc. These workshops are scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, from 9 am to noon, and Thursday, August 7, from 9 am to noon.
These half-day programs are designed to educate teachers on incorporating local history into their curriculum through history, art, and science. Participants will have the chance to learn about new opportunities available for middle and high school students at the museum. They will also meet with the MCHS Education team over a light breakfast and engage with fellow educators.
This year's focus will be on early transportation history. Attendees will visit Meeme House to explore Wisconsin's stagecoach era history. Additionally, educators will gain insights into maps, directories, and other local history resources.
The workshops are open to all educators, homeschool partners, and community supporters interested in learning more about local history. Registration is required in advance. For more information or to register, call (920) 684-4445 or visit ManitowocCountyHistory.org.
