Senator Eric Wimberger has been actively voicing his opinions on recent developments in Wisconsin's state budget through a series of tweets. His remarks cover topics ranging from prison closures to investments in local infrastructure and education funding.

On July 6, 2025, Senator Wimberger expressed disappointment over Governor Evers' decision regarding the state's prison system. He stated that "Governor Evers vetoed the closure of GBCI from our new State Budget." The senator criticized this move by highlighting that "erasing deadlines that would fix our prison problem is not the way forward for Northeast Wisconsin."

In another tweet dated July 7, 2025, Wimberger shared positive news about infrastructure investment. He announced that "Thanks to the $20 million investment @RepBenFranklin and I secured in our new state budget, the @PortofGreenBay's expansion will be fully-funded." He emphasized that this development "will chart a new course for decades of economic growth in Northeast Wisconsin."

The following day, on July 8, 2025, Senator Wimberger commented on educational financial decisions made by the University of Wisconsin System. He criticized their approach by noting that "The UW System is planning to thank taxpayers for a $256 million funding increase in our new State Budget by raising the price of tuition for Wisconsinites." He condemned this action as prioritizing "budgetary bloat over serving its students," calling it "a terrible decision for the UW."

Additional information: Green Bay Correctional Institution (GBCI) is a maximum-security prison located near Green Bay, Wisconsin.
