Books on Bikes event celebrates summer reading with bike donations

School supply distribution event scheduled for August
A school supply distribution event is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the Cedar Grove Food Pantry located at Faith Reformed Church, 243 S. 4th Street, Cedar Grove.

Books on Bikes program concludes for the summer
The last Books on Bikes program of the summer will be held on Wednesday, July 31. The event will take place at Community Park in Belgium from 1:00 to 1:30 PM and at Memorial Park in Cedar Grove from 2:30 to 3:00 PM.

Cedar Grove-Belgium School Board seeks candidates for Sheboygan County seat
The Cedar Grove-Belgium School Board seeks to fill a vacant Sheboygan County seat on the Board of Education. Eligible district residents who are registered voters can apply for the position by submitting a Declaration of Interest to the District Office by 3:00 p.m. on August 12, 2024. Applications can be mailed to 321 N. 2nd Street, Cedar Grove, WI 53013, or emailed to efreeman@cgbrockets.com.

Cedar Grove - Belgium High School announces mandatory sports meeting for athletes
Cedar Grove - Belgium High School has announced an All Sports/Co-Curricular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 6:30 PM. The meeting is mandatory for all athletes and their parents who plan to participate in any high school sport during the 2024-2025 academic year. Attendance is required annually. Girls' soccer team wins gold against The Prairie School
Congratulations to the girls' soccer team for winning the gold on Saturday against The Prairie School with a score of 5-1. Appreciation is extended to all the coaches and fans who supported the team throughout the season.

WIAA Girls State Tournament tickets available exclusively online
Tickets for the WIAA Girls State Tournament, scheduled for Thursday, June 13th at 11:00 AM, must be purchased in advance through the digital ticketing partner GoFan. A link to purchase tickets is provided, and additional information is attached. Parking will be available for $5, cash only.

Books on Bikes program encourages reading among young students this summer
The Cedar Grove-Belgium School District is launching the Books on Bikes program this summer, offering 4K-4th grade students an opportunity to receive free books and participate in a drawing for a new bike. The initiative aims to promote literacy among young students by combining physical activity with reading.

High school scholarship program awards nearly $800K to students
Last night, the high school scholarship program celebrated the achievements of its students, supported by 40 sponsors. A total of 85 awards were distributed, amounting to $261,000 in scholarships. Additionally, students received $534,000 from 12 different colleges. In total, $795,000 was awarded.

Culver's of Oostburg hosts Share Night for local elementary school
Culver's of Oostburg, located at 33 S. Business Park, in collaboration with CGBES, will be hosting a Share Night on May 14, 2024. The event is scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. During this time, a portion of the sales generated will be donated back to CGB Elementary School. Attendees are kindly requested to bring their Share Night slips.

Sally Obbink announces retirement after 28 years of service
After a tenure of 28 years in our district, Sally Obbink is set to retire in June. Reflecting on her time spent here, she expressed, "It has been a pleasure to work with each and everyone of you. There are many things I will miss, but I am looking forward to retirement."

CGB High School wrestlers inspire first graders with visit
Wrestlers from CGB High School recently visited first-grade students at a local elementary school. During their visit, the high school athletes discussed topics such as sportsmanship, commitment, hard work, and perseverance. They elaborated on what it means to be a 'Rocket', the mascot of their school, and how to embody the 'Rocket Way'.
