Unity, a nonprofit organization based in Northeast Wisconsin, will hold its fourth annual Luminary Walk on May 9, 2025. The event aims to raise funds for the Unity Grief and Education Center, which supports individuals and families who have experienced a death. The walk will take place at Heritage Hill State Historical Park in Green Bay.

The Luminary Walk is open to the public and allows participants to honor loved ones while supporting others who are grieving. Registration begins at 7:00 pm, with pre-walk activities such as personalizing t-shirts, browsing raffle baskets, and visiting with therapy dogs. A special program starts at 8:15 pm, followed by the walk at 8:30 pm on a paved trail lined with luminaries.

Unity has set a fundraising goal of $50,000 for this year’s event. These funds will help provide grief support services free of charge throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Participants can form teams or fundraise individually to earn rewards such as t-shirts or memorial lanterns.

Jenny Boeckman, Director of Unity Grief Services, expressed enthusiasm for the event: “The Unity Luminary Walk is a moving experience where families and friends gather with smiles, care for each other, and share memories of loved ones. The generosity of walkers and supporters helps sustain our vision of creating a community where no one grieves alone.”

The Unity Grief and Education Center was established in November 2021 as Northeast Wisconsin’s first facility dedicated to providing grief support for all ages. Located in De Pere, it offers counseling rooms and educational resources staffed by licensed counselors and trained volunteers.
