George H. Brickner died on August 12, 1904, in Sheboygan Falls. He was a businessman and politician connected to the city. Brickner owned the Brickner Woolen Mills, a key local employer. He served as president of Sheboygan Falls and on the county board. Brickner was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Wisconsin’s 5th district from 1889 to 1895. During his time in Congress, he supported local harbor improvements and government buildings. Brickner also helped establish St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls, the first Catholic parish in the city. He was a German immigrant who settled in the area in the 1850s. Brickner died suddenly of a heart attack near his mill. His business legacy remained important in Sheboygan Falls for decades.
