On July 2, 2025, Senator Wimberger announced the approval of a motion he authored with Representative Ben Franklin to secure $30 million for a rail crossing at the Southern Bridge site. He stated, "Last budget, I secured $50M to finally construct the Southern Bridge. Yesterday, I was proud to join the budget committee to approve a motion I authored with @RepBenFranklin to secure $30M for the rail crossing at the site."
