Sheboygan County Districts: Sheboygan Area School District welcomed most students in 2023-24 school year

Sheboygan Area School District had the highest enrollment among Sheboygan County districts, welcoming 9,427 students during the 2023-24 academic year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 90.4% of the Sheboygan Area School District’s total enrollment.

Among the nine districts in Sheboygan County, Plymouth Joint School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 2,008 students, while Sheboygan Falls School District welcomed 1,546 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Sheboygan Area School District roughly covers schools within Sheboygan County, with its main office in Sheboygan.

In the previous school year, Sheboygan Area School District also had the highest number of students among Sheboygan County districts.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
