Senator Eric Wimberger, a Republican representing Wisconsin’s 2nd Senate district since 2025, recently shared updates on legislative achievements and local recognition through a series of posts on his social media account.
On December 9, 2025, Wimberger announced the enactment of two bills he authored. He stated, “Two more bills I authored were signed into law earlier today. Act 51 will increase safety on our roads by allowing truckers to use camera monitoring systems with their mirrors to eliminate blind spots. These cameras have been shown to reduce accidents, and will protect drivers”.
The following day, December 10, Wimberger raised concerns regarding the Department of Corrections’ management practices after an incident involving Morgan Geyser. He wrote, “Morgan Geyser’s escape raises massive red flags about how the Department of Corrections tracks criminals wearing ankle monitors. If DOC can’t handle its current workload, how can we trust them to oversee Tony Evers’ proposed expansion of the Earned Release program?”
On December 11, Wimberger highlighted national recognition for a local tradition: “Big news: this year’s State Capitol Christmas Tree, which was grown right here in Northeast Wisconsin, was just ranked as one of the best Christmas light displays in America! Really cool to see something from our community recognized on a national level.”
Wimberger succeeded Robert Cowles as state senator after being elected in 2025. As a member of the Republican Party and representative for Wisconsin’s 2nd Senate district, he has focused on public safety initiatives and community engagement.
