Senator Eric Wimberger, a Republican representing Wisconsin’s 2nd Senate district since his election in 2025, recently shared updates on legislative actions and community initiatives through his Twitter account.
On January 16, 2026, Wimberger announced the passage of his bill in the Assembly, stating: “My bill requiring the state government and state contractors to use the federal E-Verify program to certify workers can legally work in America passed the Assembly this week. Requiring E-Verify upholds our immigration laws, cuts down on identity theft and fraud in the workplace,”.
The following day, January 17, he encouraged public participation in a Department of Veterans Affairs initiative: “Show some love to our Wisconsin veterans this Valentine’s Day! The Department of Veterans Affairs is once again collecting valentine cards from the public to be given to veterans across the state.”
On January 18, Wimberger commented on recent committee action regarding taxation: “I was proud to vote in favor of eliminating state taxes on tips in the Joint Finance Committee last week. No Tax on Tips is another important step in the Legislature’s work to cut down on the cost of living and make Wisconsin affordable again for our hardworking families.”
Wimberger succeeded Robert Cowles as senator for Wisconsin’s 2nd Senate district after being elected in 2025. His recent legislative efforts reflect ongoing debates over immigration verification processes and tax relief measures within Wisconsin’s legislature.
