A section of the Mariners Trail in Manitowoc will be closed starting Monday, November 10. The closure affects the area from Bay Pointe Road extending about 700 feet to the southwest, as well as the adjacent parking lot northeast of the roundabout. This is due to new shoreline protection work being installed along Memorial Drive, a project expected to last approximately two weeks.

During construction, steel sheets will protect the trail. However, city officials anticipate that heavy equipment may cause some damage requiring repairs once the project is complete. If permanent asphalt repairs cannot be finished this fall, temporary measures will ensure the trail remains usable during winter, with permanent fixes planned for spring.

For more information about parks or updates on this and other projects, residents can contact the City of Manitowoc Parks Division at (920) 686-3580 or visit www.manitowoc.org/parks.
