Opening day for the Miracle League of the Lakeshore, organized by Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (Goodwill NCW), is set for June 9. The league provides an opportunity for children and teens with disabilities to participate in baseball on a specially designed field. This season, over 100 players are expected to join.

The eight-week season will see players aged four to 19 paired with community volunteers who support them during games. More than 100 volunteers, including pitchers, umpires, announcers, coaches, and team helpers, are crucial to this year’s activities.

Tim Wavrunek, Mission Team Leader of Community Programs at Goodwill NCW stated, “Goodwill NCW is proud to support the Miracle League season for our players, families and communities.” He added that the league helps participants develop valuable skills and focuses on their abilities rather than disabilities.

Volunteers are encouraged to get involved. For more information about the league, visit goodwillncw.org/mll.

This marks the eleventh season of the Miracle League of the Lakeshore. Games will take place at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Mondays through Wednesdays at Goodwill Miracle League Field of Dreams in Manitowoc.

Media representatives are welcome to attend opening day events on June 9 at 5:30 p.m., featuring a match between Marlins and Royals followed by Phillies vs. Yankees at 7:00 p.m. The public is also invited to attend throughout the season as supportive spectators.

Goodwill North Central Wisconsin aims to elevate people by removing employment barriers and empowering individuals through skill-building initiatives.
