The Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is set to present “&We Ballet, A Little Romance” on Saturday, February 15, 2025. This event aligns with Valentine’s Day and features well-known ballet scores such as “Sleeping Beauty” and “Faust.”

The orchestra will perform the Suite from “Sleeping Beauty,” op.66. Composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky described the music as some of his best work, noting that the subject was poetical and suited for music composition. He stated, “The Sleeping Beauty is perhaps the best of all my compositions…”

In addition to Tchaikovsky’s work, the program includes Ballet Music from “Le Cid” by Jules Massenet, Ballet Music from “Faust” by Charles Gounod, and Maurice Ravel’s “Boléro.” The performance will feature a live ballet by Manitowoc Ballet Academy under Beth Check’s direction.

MSO Music Director Dylan Chmura-Moore commented on the storytelling aspect of the program: “Each piece is connected to an irresistible tale that will be further enhanced by the enchanting performance of the ballet dancers joining us on stage.”

Peggy Pitz, MSO Executive Director, highlighted the diverse appeal of the event: “Music, dinner, flowers, candy, love can be combined in any combination for a truly special and unique Valentine’s Day experience… this music and concert experience will appeal to a variety of interests.”

The concert will be held at Capitol Civic Centre. Tickets are available at manitowocsymphony.org/ballet. Special pricing is offered for individuals aged 35 and under at $17; children 10 and under attend for free. Attendees are also invited to a post-concert After Glow event at The Stage Door Pub.

Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 74th season this year. Based in one of Wisconsin’s smallest cities with its own symphony orchestra, MSO aims to deliver high-quality orchestral experiences that unite people through music.
