Manitowoc Public Library has unveiled its Teen Services events for April 2025. These activities aim to engage the community, offering something for individuals of all ages to participate in.

The month begins with the Drop-In Chess Club on April 2, from 6-7:30 PM. Participants can join in for a session intended to enhance memory and concentration. While individuals of all ages above six are welcome, children under eight must be accompanied by an adult. As in previous years, chessboards provided and no registration required.

On April 8 and 22, from 5:30-7:30 PM, the library hosts Space to Write. Open to all writers, this setting encourages attendees to explore various forms of writing, from novels and poems to graphic novels. With guest speakers and a community atmosphere, participants find inspiration and creativity in this space.

April 10 sees the return of the Teen Hang-Out event, featuring Liverpool Rummy, a card game where the goal is to achieve the lowest score through strategic playing. Supplies and snacks are available to ensure a competitive spirit.

From April 14 through May 1, the library holds the Comic Book Day 2025 Bookmark Art Contest. Local artists have the chance to create unique bookmark designs, with submitted works displayed during Comic Book Day on May 3. Contest prizes are awarded across multiple age categories.

In the “MPL Insider” session on April 17 at 12 PM, hosts Tim and Emily welcome back Tony Plekan, Public Services Librarian, to discuss the upcoming events at the library for Comic Book Day 2025. They’ll also feature Manty native Pat Dewane ahead of his author event later that evening.

Finally, on April 22, football fans can partake in Football Frenzy from 6-7:15 PM. This family-friendly event celebrates NFL Draft Week with games, trivia, and more, inviting attendees of all ages to join the fun.

Children aged eight and below should be accompanied by an adult at all library events. The library encourages people to participate in these numerous activities and make the most of the programming offered in April 2025.
