The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, has announced the opening of registration for its summer camps designed for youth. These camps will cater to different age groups and feature a range of activities related to living history.
The summer camps will run from 9 am to 3 pm on each designated day. Options for early drop-off and late pick-up are provided. Fees for the camps vary and require advanced registration, with scholarships available to assist with costs.
The “Life As A Pioneer Summer Camp” is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10. It is open to children aged 6 to 12 years and will offer activities that simulate daily life in the early 20th century. Participants will engage in tasks such as household chores and school lessons.
The “In the Kitchen Summer Camp” on Wednesday, July 16, is for ages 8 to 14. Attendees will have the opportunity to cook in historic kitchens and return home with samples.
The “Makesmith Summer Camp” will occur on Thursday, July 17, for those aged 10 to 16. This camp provides an apprenticeship experience with professionals such as blacksmiths and carpenters.
Lastly, the “Civil War Summer Camp” will take place on Tuesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 6. This camp is for ages 6 to 12 and aims to bring local Civil War stories to life through various activities.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society, situated in Eastern Wisconsin’s Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside, is a living history museum sprawling over 60 acres. It features a Welcome Center with historical exhibits and Pinecrest Historical Village, a collection of over 25 historic structures. The Village began in 1970 following a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family, showcasing a reconstruction of a small Wisconsin community from the early 1900s.
