Mayor Justin M. Nickels has declared a Downtown Pickup Snow Emergency for the City of Manitowoc, set to take place overnight from Sunday, November 30, 2025, into Monday morning, December 1, 2025.
The emergency will be in effect from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. During these hours, parking is prohibited on all marked State or Federal highways, County trunk highways, City bus routes, industrial truck routes as specified in MMC 10.750, municipal parking lots (except leased stalls and otherwise posted lots), and other designated streets throughout Manitowoc.
According to the city’s announcement: “Vehicles parked in violation of this section for more than 24 hours may be towed away pursuant to MMC 10.630(2)(c). and Towed vehicles may be reclaimed by the owner only after payment of the towing cost plus a storage charge equal to the City’s cost of such storage. Any vehicles not claimed within 30 days may be disposed of pursuant to MMC 16.130. Each violation shall also result in the issuance of a citation and the payment to the City of a forfeiture by the violator in the amount of $50.00, together with applicable State penalty and other surcharges and court costs.”
A detailed list of affected streets includes Washington Street (S 20th St to S 7th St), Jay Street (S 10th St to S 6th St), Franklin Street (S 14th St to S 6th St), Quay Street (S 10th St to S 6th St), Maritime Drive (N 10th St to N 6th St), River Point (N 10th St to Chicago), York Street (River Point Dr to N 7th St), Buffalo Street (River Point Dr to N 7th St), Chicago Street (N 10th St to N 7th St), N 11th Street (Buffalo St to York St), among others.
