In May, the Manitowoc County Historical Society will host various events, including fundraisers and workshops, at its location on Pinecrest Road. The month will commence with a spring opening weekend on May 3, featuring living history demonstrations such as sheep shearing.

The 19th Annual Homegrown Heritage Breakfast fundraiser will take place on May 3 from 8 am to 11 am and will feature scrambled eggs from Humpty Dumpty Eggs, bread from Natural Ovens Bakery, and other local produce. Late’s BBQ from Manitowoc will prepare the meal, and the funds generated will support the Society’s educational programs. Tickets, which include museum and village admission, will be time-slotted, with advanced registration suggested.

Also on May 3, Corporate Partner Employee Free Day from 10 am to 2 pm will provide free admission for the 2025 Corporate Partner employees and their families. The general public will have access to a broad range of spring opening activities from 10 am to 4 pm.

A Lincoln Boulevard Historic Walking Tour is scheduled for May 7. This 90-minute exploration will highlight the architectural history of the area. Advanced registration is required.

On May 10, a workshop offering instruction in 19th-century sweet treats will take place. Community Craft Night on May 15 will provide a space for local artisans to meet and work together.

May’s events also include the Member Swap Weekend from May 15 through May 18, allowing members to explore various local museums. The Yarn Dying Workshop on May 17 will introduce participants to natural dyes. A tram tour through the Society’s historic village, reserved for members, will occur on May 21.

May 24 has been designated as MCLS Library Card Free Day, with library cardholders granted free entry to the museum. Activities include storytelling sessions and youth workshops.

The month will close with a World War 1 Encampment event on May 31 and June 1.
