The Manitowoc County Historical Society is gearing up for its spring and summer season with a scheduled clean-up event on April 22 and 23 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The society, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, invites volunteers to participate in the annual spring clean-up. Cleaning supplies will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own if possible. Snacks will be available throughout the day.

The organization emphasizes that while the focus is on the spring clean-up, volunteers are needed throughout the summer season to help maintain historic structures. “Join as a volunteer each week or for a few hours each month and help make the buildings shine,” urges the Historical Society.

Volunteers interested in participating can register by calling (920) 684-4445 or emailing GuestServices@ManitowocCountyHistory.org. Upon arrival, they should check in at the McAllister House Welcome Center for cleaning assignments.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society is situated in Eastern Wisconsin’s Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside. It features a 60-acre living history museum that includes a Welcome Center with exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village. This village showcases over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from early settlers of Manitowoc County.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from Hugo and Eleanor Vetting. It has since evolved into a representation of an early 1900s Wisconsin community, highlighting various architectural styles and housing original or carefully reproduced furnishings and tools used by interpreters.
