The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village in Manitowoc has opened registration for its annual Scout Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 26. The event will offer a morning session from 9 am to noon and an afternoon session from 1 to 4 pm. Advanced registration is necessary due to limited space.

Scout Day programming typically fulfills badge requirements, although additional activities may be needed outside the program. Class options include:

– Boy Scout Metalworking Merit Badge: This class focuses on basic smithing skills such as forging, bending, curling, twisting, and annealing. Participants will complete two projects—a spatula and steak flipper—satisfying the BSA merit badge requirements. Each session accommodates a maximum of six students.

– Textile Artist – Senior Girl Scout Badge: Participants will engage with artists and explore textile arts by creating a project inspired by fabrics and yarns. This class also allows for up to six students per session.

– Social Butterfly and Playing the Past – Junior Girl Scout/Cub Scout: This class offers an opportunity to practice good manners in social settings, helping participants feel more confident. The session can host up to 20 students.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society is located in Eastern Wisconsin’s scenic Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside. It operates as a living history museum on a 60-acre site that includes a Welcome Center with exhibits and research services alongside the Pinecrest Historical Village. The village features over 25 historic buildings furnished with period items from early settlers of Manitowoc County.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 through a land donation from Hugo and Eleanor Vetting. It replicates a small Wisconsin community from the early 1900s with buildings forming the commercial, social, and political core of a town representing various architectural styles from Wisconsin’s history.
