The Manitowoc County Historical Society is offering free general admission to children under 12 on Thursdays throughout July. The initiative, called “Kid Free Thursdays,” allows up to three children to enter for free with one paid adult admission. The offer is available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each Thursday will have a different theme in the Historic Village, featuring hands-on activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The themes are as follows: July 3 – Celebrating America’s Independence; July 10 – Crafts and Trades, showcasing blacksmiths and cheese makers; July 17 – Dress the Part; July 24 – Travel; and July 31 – Pioneer Fun with historic games.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society is located at 924 Pinecrest Road, Manitowoc. For further details, interested parties can contact the museum at (920) 684-4445 or visit their website at ManitowocCountyHistory.org.

The society’s museum is situated in Eastern Wisconsin’s Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside and covers an area of 60 acres. It includes a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services, as well as the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village. This village consists of over 25 historic buildings furnished in period style, representing early settlers of Manitowoc County.

Pinecrest Historical Village began its development in 1970 after receiving land from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family. It has since grown into a representation of a small Wisconsin community from the early 1900s, complete with commercial, social, and political structures that showcase various architectural styles from Wisconsin’s history.

For more information about these offerings or other inquiries regarding the historical society, individuals are encouraged to reach out through the provided contact information.
