The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will host a series of workshops and activities for Father’s Day weekend. Fathers and father-figures will receive free general admission on Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days.

Several workshops are scheduled for Saturday, June 14, with varying times and fees. Advance registration is required. Among the offerings is a Family Base Ball Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon, where participants can learn to make a handmade leather baseball. A Beer and Pretzels workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., led by the Manty Malters Homebrew Club, will explore the historical role of beer and teach attendees how to brew pale ale using local ingredients from Briess Malting in Manitowoc. Participants must be at least 21 years old. An Items for the Home Blacksmithing session will take place from noon to 3 p.m., allowing students to create items such as dinner triangles or candleholders.

Additionally, an 1860s base ball match will occur on Saturday, June 14. The Manitowoc County Amateurs vintage base ball team will engage in a game using period equipment like brown balls and double-knobbed bats. Attendees can join in a pick-up game at 12:15 p.m., followed by a match between the Manitowoc County Amateurs and visitors at 1 p.m.

General admission prices are set at $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $10 for children aged four to seventeen, while children under four and MCHS Members can enter free of charge.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society is situated in Eastern Wisconsin’s Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside. It features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services alongside the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village—a collection of over twenty-five historic buildings with furnishings reflective of early settlers’ lives.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 through a land donation by Hugo and Eleanor Vetting’s family and has since evolved into a representation of an early twentieth-century Wisconsin community.
