The Manitowoc County Historical Society, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, has announced a series of events for March 2025. The events aim to raise funds and engage the community with local history.

On March 6, a dine fundraiser will take place at Port Sandy Bay in Two Rivers from 4 to 8 p.m. Proceeds from orders will support the historical society’s mission of preserving and educating about local history.

Winter Weekend is scheduled for March 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can explore historic buildings, enjoy winter activities such as snowshoeing and sledding, and participate in fiber arts activities. Bank First and Seehafer News are supporting this event.

A wool spinning workshop led by Carol Wagner from Hidden Valley Farm and Woolen Mill will also occur on March 15 from noon until 3 p.m. Participants will learn wool spinning techniques using a drop spindle.

On March 19 at Branch Station, Susan Apps Bodilly will present “Planting a Garden and Finding Your Roots” as part of the Hungry for History Series program. The talk will cover historical research methods related to gardens. Registration is required for both the workshop and presentation.

Community Craft Night on March 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. offers an opportunity for crafters to work on projects while engaging with others in the community.

March also marks the celebration of “The Flag of Company A: Celebrating the Gift of the Century.” On March 27 at the Manitowoc Public Library, there will be a reenactment ceremony commemorating the return of a Civil War era flag gifted to the Manitowoc County Historical Society in 1925.

The month concludes with Heritage Trades School workshops on March 29-30. Attendees can learn skills like blacksmithing and dressmaking during these immersive sessions that require registration.
