Two students from Lakeshore College have secured first-place positions at the spring 2025 SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills state conference in Madison. The students, Autumn Robley and Johnathon DeBruin, will advance to the national SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta, scheduled for June 23-27.

Autumn Robley excelled in the Precision Machining Technology competition. She has recently completed her degree in precision machining technology and is continuing her studies in Lakeshore’s CNC automation technician program.

Johnathon DeBruin led the CNC 2-Axis Turning Specialist competition. Like Robley, he has completed his degree in precision machining technology and is furthering his education in the same CNC program.

“Autumn’s and Johnathon’s success is a result of the expertise they’ve developed through hard work and the quality of their technical education. They are carrying on the tradition of Lakeshore students excelling at SkillsUSA competitions,” said Mark Lorier, Lakeshore machining instructor and SkillsUSA advisor. Lorier will accompany both students to Atlanta.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that supports students aiming for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service fields through various competitions and educational programs. The Championships provide an opportunity for students to showcase their skills to industry professionals on a national stage.

Lakeshore College, previously known as Lakeshore Technical College, educates over 9,000 students annually with a focus on practical career skills and pathways toward bachelor’s degrees. Recognized nationally for its educational standards, it ranks highly by Washington Monthly, Forbes, WalletHub.com, and others. Approximately 800 graduates leave Lakeshore each year with associate degrees reporting median salaries of $61,355 within six months post-graduation.

In addition to its main campus in Cleveland, Wisconsin, Lakeshore operates learning centers in downtown Manitowoc and Sheboygan with additional class sites across the district.
