Lakeshore College in Cleveland, Wisconsin, has received Provisional Accreditation from the American Welding Society (AWS) under the AWS QC47:2016-AMD2 Specification. This status allows the college to conduct welder performance qualification testing using approved welding processes that meet national standards. Lakeshore is also permitted to submit welder credential packages for AWS certification and listing in the AWS National Registry of Certified Welders.
“This achievement underscores Lakeshore College’s dedication to workforce development and excellence in welding education and certification services,” said Rachel Kroeplien, dean of applied technology & economic development for Lakeshore College. “This milestone strengthens our ability to serve regional employers and support workforce development.”
The accreditation covers both on-site and off-site testing locations as outlined in the college’s Accredited Test Facility quality manual. It will remain valid through January 1, 2027. To keep its accreditation, Lakeshore College must undergo a three-year review cycle that includes an on-site audit every three years and annual self-audits during other years.
Lakeshore College educates over 9,000 students annually at its main campus in Cleveland as well as learning centers in Manitowoc and Sheboygan. The institution has been recognized nationally by several organizations for its educational quality and career preparation programs.
